Breeder Membership

MDBA Breeder membership is open to anyone over 18 who breeds or intends to breed pedigreed purebred dogs and people working towards breed recognition who can commit to our breeder member codes, policies and rules.

Our Breeder membership is for those wanting to start their purebred dog breeding journey with the MDBA because they believe in putting the dog’s health and welfare first. We encourage and promote the education and positive behaviours associated with being a responsible dog breeder, with our members leading by example.

The bottom line is that for MDBA breeders, raising the healthiest and best dogs they can is a passion, an honour, a labour of love and a lifelong commitment.

We do not believe that the selection of purebred dogs with a primary focus on how the dog looks is conducive to the health and welfare of the dogs or their breeds.

Our Breeder members agree to ensure the best quality of life for the dogs they own and breed, as their primary focus, in all of their activities.

Our Breeder members receive community recognition that they are an MDBA Breeder and have agreed to codes, policies and rules that demonstrate their integrity and focus on what is best for the dogs over all other goals.

There is recognition and promotion of what our members do in their breeding programs and practices that are superior to others and cited as a model for others to follow.
